Ritu was born in Rourkela, India and raised in Kitchener, Ontario. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree (with Distinction) in Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University. Ritu attended law school at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, where she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Laws with First Class Distinction.
While at school, Ritu served as the President of the Canadian Student Law Society and was the recipient of the Clinical Legal Education Award for her contributions to the University’s immigration law clinic. Ritu was actively involved in University mooting, winning the 2019 Mayo Wynne Baxter Mooting Competition, and chairing as the Mistress of the Moot in subsequent years.
Ritu summered as a law student with Giffen in 2020 and 2021 and completed her articles with Giffen in March 2023 where she assisted with various general litigation and family law matters. Ritu will be called to the Ontario Bar in June 2023. She has since joined our firm as an associate in the Family Law Department assisting clients with various legal matters. Ritu brings a compassionate approach to working with clients, and she is committed to helping families find peaceful solutions to their legal disputes.
In her spare time, Ritu never turns down a match of tennis, squash or pickleball, and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Ritu is also fluent in Hindi and Punjabi.
