Gary E.J. Hauser

Giffen LLP Lawyers welcomed Gary Hauser to the firm in the Spring of 2013.


Gary attended Waterloo Lutheran University (now Laurier) where he received his B.A. in 1969.  He then attended Osgoode Hall in Toronto graduating with his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1972.  After articling with a firm in Kitchener, Ontario, he was called to the Bar in 1974.


Gary commenced his law practice with an established firm in Cambridge where he practiced municipal law for the new City of Cambridge for three years until he formed a partnership in Cambridge in 1978 with a law school buddy.


From 1978 onwards, in Cambridge, Gary has practiced in the areas of business law, estate planning and administration of estates and in the area of commercial, industrial and real estate transactions.  Gary has advised many businesses and their owners and has assisted many family businesses with their succession planning and orderly transition to the next generation.  Gary has also assisted many local businesses with the successful sale of their businesses, properties and operations to willing purchasers and, on the flip side, in 2013, assisted a client with the successful acquisition of a large Canadian franchise operation.


Gary was a member of the Shades Mill Law Association in Cambridge, the Waterloo Law Association and the Canadian Bar Association, he is a past-President of the Cambridge (Preston-Hespeler) Rotary Club, past Director of the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, past-Chair of the Planned Giving Committee of Cambridge Hospital Foundation and he is currently a director of Homer Watson & Gallery in Kitchener and in 2012 Gary received the Personal Business Achievement Award from the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.


Gary is a Regional man who has worked in Cambridge since 1974 and lived in Kitchener-Waterloo since 1975.  He currently resides in Waterloo with his wife, Sherry, and he enjoys biking, hiking, canoeing, dining, skiing, traveling and gardening.  Gary and Sherry are the proud parents of two daughters, Sylvia, a teacher in St. Catharines, and, Andrea, a Doctor of Homeopathic Medicine in Kitchener.  Gary is also a past Director of the Beechwood Park Homes Association in Waterloo and has many good friends and clients in KW as well as in Cambridge.


Gary retired from the practice of law in 2016, but remains active in the community while enjoying his retirement.
